County Population
Pinellas County has the sixth largest total
county population and seventh largest youth population in Florida.

Between 1970 and 2007, Pinellas County’s total
population is estimated to have increased at an average annual rate
of 1.6% to 944,200, a total increase of 81%. During this same
period, Pinellas’ 0-17 youth population grew at a slower average
annual rate of 1.1% to 179,700, an overall gain of 49%. In
comparison, Florida’s population increased at a more rapid average
annual growth of 2.8% and 1.9%, respectively.
· According
to the Bureau of Economic and Business Research, University of
Florida, Pinellas County’s future population growth is projected to
slow considerably between 2007 and 2030, with total population
increasing 7.1%, an average of 0.3% per year, and youth population
declining 2.7%. As shown in the chart below, the growth in
Pinellas’ youth population is expected to be far below Florida as
well as selected counties of comparable size.
