Overweight Children

Children who are overweight frequently become overweight adults.  Overweight adults are at a greatly increased risk for a variety of health problems, including diabetes, stroke, heart disease, arthritis, and even certain cancers.  However, many of the consequences of being an overweight youth are immediate.  There are often psychosocial as well as cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and the precursors to diabetes.
